Today, most Japanese hobbyist enjoy their appreciation of goldfish from above, Oranda included.
From this cause, there are many Japanese breeder working to develop the new line of Oranda.

Oranda Nagate is a newest complete bloodline that developed from Oranda Shishigashira which mean regular oranda that we've seen.
The first generation of Oranda Nagate has long body with big broad tail and shape look little like butterfly.
See pictures shown below. These are Oranda Nagete from Mr.Tsukiho

All these Oranda shown above were fish that Mr. Boss has imported last month from Japan.
At this point, like i mentioned, he already got off-spring from these fish.
Now i have to save money and think of a trick to ask him to share these fish to the US  m83

Thanx for sharing this info Paul.  I would like to see side view of these new fish. The problem I see is that by our judging standards here in the US they need to conform to our standards. If they don't they may be hard to sell to people that show fish and arent those the ones that will pay the higher price that you will have to ask for them?
I don't see why we have to follow what the Japanese do. We have our set of standards and if they want to sell to us, make the fish meet our standards rather than us changing to meet their breeding.

Well...I would say that Top-view fish had different standard with side-view fish. We both, Asian & Westerner, are all start keeping goldfish to enjoy their side-view. Then now, most Asian goldfish hobbyist start to develop Top-view line of fish to appreciate the fish from Above. Also come with all new standard.

It would take us long time to start appreciate them from above. Since most of us start to keep and enjoy them side-view. I think that "First love" is hard to forget, am i right? But the deeper you digging in goldfish, the higher quality and unique you would acquired! Trust me that Top-view fish has higher standard and much more detail than we think. I am not a true expert in Top-view fish, but i am willing to learn. The longer you see them and may acquire one or two. I think you felt in love with them and may become your permanent type of goldfish as "husband & wife" to you.

This year i started to import Japanese top-view fish such as Nankin, Tosakin, and Top-view ranchu. During the time of maintain and keeping them. I start to love appreciate their beauty from Above.

If you  can get them in Paul, I would most likely get a pair.........

Bruce, the Japanese breeders could care less about breeding to please the western market. Why, cause they are hobbiest breeders, not commerical ones. They breed for the art of it all, not to make money. Most of the market fish here are Chinese due to the fact is they are commerical farms. As far as AGA standards, there are now top view standards for ranchu and tosakin, so it is evolving.

I too started with side view fish, but like my wine tastes, they evolved to Japanese fish, espeically ranchu. And like Paul, once I had them(TVR) I grew to love them even more as I enjoyed their delicate motion and beauty in their swimming and power.

If anyone is interested in these fish we have started a club the American Ranchu Society, and will be having a show this coming fall.

And what separates Paul  from other importers is he offers Japanese breeds of goldfish, instead of just commerical chinese stock

I love those tails.  Can you keep these guys with TVRs?  I can't imagine them being a fast or powerful swimmer.

For some reason, i would love to have these oranda without the dorsal fin.
It could be a very nice long tail ranchu with full wen growth

I agree on the dorsal part somewhat. Thats why I wonder why Shukins(longfin ranchu) are not more popular. At least I know Harris is breeding them in Hawaii............
